Transformers Measured Directly on the QuadTech 1689 and 1693 Digibridge
Need to measure turns ratio on transformers? The 1689 and 1693 Digibridges can perform this task with ease. Equations, circuit diagram and three separate methods are provided herein.
Tutorial on Safety Standard Compliance for Hipot Testing
Safety standard compliance testing is both necessary and confusing. This note provides an example of hipot testing with specific reference to UL 982, 'Motor-Operated Household Food Preparing Machines'. Good discussion on how current detection is done and how setting limits affects your test.
Ground Bond Testing per UL 60950
Have you ever read UL 60950? Did you grasp how to do the ground bond test in paragraph 2.6.3? Not an easy test but this standard-specific discussion attempts to define protective earth and the test methods associated with it. A few definitions, a little clarification and two examples round out this application note.

Sentry Hipot & Ground Bond Package
Chances are that if you have to hipot your electrical product, you must also do a ground bond test. For some just verifying the existence of the ground connection with a continuity check is enough but for others, some serious amperage is needed and a ground bond test is called for. The Sentry 50 Ground Bond Tester provides up to 30A AC - now that's some amps! Use the Sentry 50 in conjunction with the Sentry 10, 20 or 30 for a complete electrical safety test package. The Sentry Line of Hipot and Ground Bond Testers is the cornerstone of QuadTech's EST Line. Find out yourself by visiting the Sentry product page. |
