QuadTech Moves and Donates Unused Supplies, Furniture to Local Schools

QuadTech's recent move to the Marlborough, Mass. office gave us a chance to give back to the community. Unused supplies and furniture found a new home after we donated them to local schools.

"QuadTech has always recognized the importance of giving back to the surrounding communities," says Kim Southern, President of QuadTech. "We were happy to be able to donate some of our office supplies and furniture to local schools when we moved to our new office facility in December. It’s rewarding to know the schools can now use the money saved from the donation of these supplies for activities and programs for the kids."

Filing cabinets and bookshelves were donated to Hubbardston Center School in Hubbardston, Mass. and chairs and tables were given to Tahanto Regional Middle/High School of the Berlin-Boylston Regional School District in Boylston, Mass., during the move this past December.

"The students in our program were so excited to have a little reading nook created by the bookshelves, where we now store games for them to use ... as well as a variety of books and magazines," wrote Kari Sacramone, Director of the Hubbardtson Center School - Extended Day Program. Read the full letter about QuadTech's donation to HCS.

These donations allowed the schools to re-allocate money that would have been spent on these supplies to other materials instead.

Tahanto Regional Middle/High School Principal Mike Barth wrote to QuadTech, "You have directly improved the educational experiences of our students in many ways." Read Principal Barth's full letter.

Chinese New Year

Where does the Chinese New Year celebration come from?

Long ago, “Nian” (Year) was not a holiday, but a monster. Legend says that in ancient past, this monster was fierce and aggressive, and every winter thousands of Nians would go on hunting sprees, sweeping out towns everywhere they went. They’d not only attack humans, but also domestic animals and sometimes even larger ones like tigers and bears. Every winter, people had to fight with the Nians until the springtime, when they would disappear. Eventually, people realized that as brutal as Nians were, they were scared of fire - especially fireworks. So when people saw Nians come to attack every winter, they’d start a fire, have a huge fireworks show, and cheer with loud noise for the hunters until the Nians retreated. The next morning, everybody would come out of their hiding place and check on their neighbors, relatives, and friends. If everybody was fine, they’d bow to each other to celebrate.

Happy Chinese New Year!

Valentine's Day

Attention fellow male engineers – Valentine’s Day is February 14.

We’d like to remind you – as we already have with our own QuadTech employees – to make your significant other proud this holiday by remembering to get them something! If you’re short on time and need to get a quick gift, here are some ideas:

A single rose. Bouquets may be a symbol of affection, but they’re also a dent in your wallet. A single rose in a vase that is color coordinated with her kitchen can be just as thoughtful. (Just don’t forget a card!)

Buy her favorite romantic comedy on DVD. Spend the night in with some chocolates, wine, and her favorite romance – even if you’ve seen it a hundred times, it’ll be a fun way to celebrate the holiday together.

Offer to do a chore for her. Some women want romance, and some just want more time in the day. Offer to do the dishes or cook dinner for a week, watch the kids, clean the house – whatever will free up her time to go out with the girls, relax or do anything she wants!

Have a Valentine’s Day cookie cake delivered to her office. You’ll get brownie points for your thoughtfulness, and earn her brownie points with her co-workers when she shares the delicious treat. (CookiesbyDesign.com delivers nationwide.)

Medical: Ablation Catheters and MDM

Find out how QuadTech's Meridian Wire and Harness Analyzer can be used to test ablation catheters. An ablation catheter is used for the heart. The catheter is put into a vein and then threaded through the chambers of the heart.

The Meridian is ideal for catheter testing because of its unique operational enhancements including Kelvin probe flying lead for precision continuity testing, flex testing, and data collection and storage.

 QuadTech Happenings!

Exciting things are happening at QuadTech. Here's a look at what's new!

QuadTech Releases the Hybrid 2000 4-Wire

QuadTech Hybrid 2000 4-WireBuilt upon its 2-Wire predecessor, the Hybrid 2000 4-Wire contains new features that enable customers to test multiple components, improve testing ranges, and receive more accurate results:

  • The 4-Wire allows users to test all channels at once and determine which channel failed without the need to recall separate memory locations, decreasing overall test times.
  • DCR Balance compares resistance within a test and compares each point to one another, ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Sub step helps eliminate the replacement of working parts and saves time; if a failure occurs during a multi-point test, the Hybrid 2000 will automatically re-test each point individually to determine where the failure is.
  • Optional temperature compensation removes the need to manually record temperature, and eliminates the process of testing multiple limits due to temperature dependency.

The Hybrid 2000 4-Wire unit is ideal for inductor, solenoid and motor manufacturers. Other industries which will benefit from this unit:

  • Heaters
  • Wire and cable
  • Medical
  • Aerospace
  • Aternative energy industries

Technical Corner

Did you know our ground bond products have a feature called Start Wait?

The Start Wait time is a delay time for Ground Bond  – after a connection to the device is made and before current is applied to begin the ground bond test. This feature is beneficial for probing. For example: If a 2 second start wait time is programmed, once the Continuity between high and low GB connections is made, the unit waits the 2sec programmed start time then applies current to the DUT.
