QUADTECH INTRODUCES THE FIRST ELECTRICAL SAFETY TESTER WITH FIVE TEST
FUNCTIONS IN ONE UNIT
Marlboro, MA - May 14, 1999 - QuadTech, Inc., formerly GenRad Instruments, introduces the Guardian 6000 Electrical Safety Analyzer, the first five in one safety tester, providing AC Hipot testing, DC Hipot testing, Insulation Resistance, Simulated Leakage Current and Ground Bond measurements. The ability to perform all these important electrical safety tests in one box, with a single connection to the device under test (DUT), is a cost effective way to deal with present and future compliance testing needs. The 6000 is a total solution in production and compliance testing of appliances, information technology equipment, and electronic products in accordance with a multitude of standards including: UL, CSA, IEC, TUV and EN. Additional, the built-in optional 8 channel scanner of the Guardian 6000 is ideal for fast switching and testing of multi-lead devices, such as transformers, motors and power supply assemblies.
The new tester can perform AC Hipot testing from 100 to 5000V, DC Hipot testing from 100 to 6000V, insulation resistance (IR) measurements over the range of 100kW to 50GW, ground bond testing to 30A, and a true RMS line leakage simulation using the recommended human body model of UL1950. The Hipot testing functions cover a wide current range, 1mA to 40mA AC and 0.1mA to 20mA DC and the wide IR measurement range to 50GW is unique for a multi-function safety tester. Any combination of these five tests can be run in sequence with an overall go/no-go indication and any failed measurement results clearly shown.
All units include easy-to-read LCD digital display for setup parameters and test results, pass/fail output, front panel lockout with password protection, and storage of 50 test setups for quick and easy startup. The unit offers both digital and analog display of the stimulus parameter, voltage or current. For an automated production environment, remote control or datalogging, the tester comes standard with PLC and IEEE-488 interfaces, an optional RS232 interface is also available. Besides the internal 8 channel optional scanner, auxiliary scanners are also available for expansion to 64 test connections. For flexibility of system integration, the unit comes standard with both front and rear panel test connections. Like all QuadTech Hipot testers, the Guardian 6000 includes an on/off selectable arc detection feature, zero offset for eliminating test lead effects, programmable voltage ramp and test times, and comes with NIST traceable calibration certificate.
