QUADTECH EXPANDS INDUCTIVE COMPONENT TESTER LINE WITH NEW LCR METER
AND DC BIAS CURRENT SOURCE
Maynard, MA - October 3, 1999 - QuadTech, Inc., formerly GenRad Instruments, introduces the 1750 LCR Meter Digibridge® and the 1320 DC Bias Current Source in a continuing expansion of its impedance measuring instruments. When used together, the two units offer a fully automated testing solution for DC bias current inductance measurements of high power inductors. These units provide unequaled price/performance and offer a range of user programmable features and measurement flexibility making them ideal for applications in product development, incoming inspection, or production line testing.
Besides the 1750 LCR meter inductance (L) measuring capability, the 1750 impedance meter, inductance meter also measures primary parameters of capacitance (C), resistance (R), impedance |Z| and secondary parameters of dissipation factor (D), quality factor (Q), resistance (R), and Phase Angle (Ø). The unit's basic accuracy is 0.1% with 500 programmable test frequencies over a wide range between 20 Hz and 200 kHz and programmable test voltage from 10 mV to 2.5 V. The 1750 I offers a host of other features not usually found within its price range, such as automatic ranging, load correction, and the remote interfaces. With auto ranging implemented the instrument automatically selects one of seven ranges for optimum accuracy, eliminating any chance of operator error. Load correction provides substantial improvement in instrument accuracy by allowing the operator to specify the value of a known standard, measure and apply the correction to subsequent measurements. The units IEEE-488 and handler interfaces allow remote control and datalogging, and fast throughput when using an automatic component handler. For utmost precision, the 4-terminal Kelvin clip leads (included) and automatic zeroing function provide maximum measurement integrity to the device under test.
The 1320 DC Bias Current Source can be used as a standalone unit or used in conjunction with the 1750, or other LCR meters, impedance meters and inductance meters for evaluating the inductance characteristics of components under DC bias conditions. The instrument provides 0 to 20 Amps of DC current and measures DC resistance from 0 to 200 ohms. The DC bias current can be extended to 100 Amps with additional slave units connected in parallel. A unique feature of the 1320 allows the operator to select bias current direction as forward or reverse. This has the advantage of testing hysteresis on inductors without having to change the test leads. The 1320 can be programmed for 21 steps within a single test for multi-point current testing (stepped current levels) or loop testing (current stepped up and back down). This makes it possible to evaluate devices under actual operating conditions. Additionally, an IEEE-488 interface is included standard on the 1320 for remote control and datalogging.
