QuadTech Provides Custom Test Solutions for Passive Components and Electrical Safety Testing

Maynard, MA - November 3, 2000 - In response to today's changing manufacturing environment QuadTech, Inc., formerly GenRad Instruments, has expanded its product lines of electrical safety test instrumentation to include Application Specific Testing Solutions (ASTS). With the ASTS program, QuadTech can supply test instruments that are specifically designed to meet individual manufacturer requirements, resulting in more efficient testing processes and lower overall testing costs.

Instruments developed under the Application Specific Testing Solutions program are based on two distinct platforms: QuadTech's 2500 Electrical Safety Testers; and the 1900 family of LCR meter, ESR meter and Passive Component Testers.

"With rapid changes in technology, instrumentation test requirements are also changing. Standard off-the-shelf test equipment, especially in production, may not necessarily satisfy each company's distinctive test and measurement needs," Phil Harris, President, QuadTech, said. "Since we sell direct and speak directly with our customers, we are able to understand their unique test requirements. We can then make hardware and/or software modifications to our existing products to satisfy their particular test needs."

Examples of ASTS include a leading worldwide manufacturer of tantalum capacitors that needed to increase testing throughput to optimize production output. QuadTech's standard LCR meter product was customized for this application to include an additional low range to improve ESR meter measurements, optimization of software for increased testing speed, and modifications to minimize settling time. For a leading manufacturer of temperature control products, QuadTech modified its popular Sentry line of Hipot Testers, expanding the instrument's internal memory to provide additional testing steps. This allowed the customer to reduce the number of instruments required on the manufacturing line, resulting in significant cost savings.
