QuadTech Offers Seminar On Transitioning To
UL 2601-1 And IEC 60601-1
Two-Day Course On Designing And Evaluating Medical
Electronic Equipment To 601 Standards
Maynard, MA - QuadTech, Inc., a leading electronic test equipment manufacturer in the electrical safety has begun facilitating a 2-day comprehensive detailed seminar, covering Medical Equipment Compliance on designing and evaluating products to the 601 standards. The seminar is intended to increase attendee awareness of product safety certification by exploring the requirements for medical equipment in the US and internationally.
The course is designed for quality assurance, design, test, and production engineers, as well as those closely associated to regulatory issues. The course content is focused to understanding requirements early in a product design phase, which can result in reduced product development costs, faster certification turnaround, and increased product safety. "This seminar is a natural extension of our recent, highly successful, 1-day west coast seminars focusing on the IEC 60601-1 Medical Electrical Equipment Standard," said Phil Harris, President and CEO of QuadTech.
Conducting this 2-day course is Brian R. Biersach, founder of Medical Equipment Compliance Associates (MECA), a company that provides certification and regulatory services and seminars. Brian has a BS degree in biomedical engineering, a BA degree in economics, is an ISO 9000 and Medical Device Directive Auditor and a US expert/acting secretary on the IEC/ISO Joint Working Group 3 Committee. Prior to founding MECA, Brian was a Medical Device Services Project Engineer and reviewer for UL and a primary instructor for UL's IEC60601-1 technical seminars.
The seminar will cover international law and harmonized standards, in particular IEC 60601-1 and UL 2601-1, the philosophy and structure of these standards as well as the electrical and mechanical safety issues related to them. Additionally the course encompasses manufacturing and production testing of medical products, testing for compliance to the standards, and the process of obtaining safety marks.
The first seminar will be held Wednesday, April 23rd and Thursday, April 24th, from 8am until 4pm at the Burlington Marriott in Burlington, Massachusetts. For information by phone please call Customer Care at QuadTech, 800-253-1230, extension 230.
